About Me
What brought me here?
Yoga is the only form of movement that has ever continually drawn me back again & again. At first it was the physical draw. I felt challenged and witnessed my body become stronger. Then as I attended more classes & became more familiar with the poses I actually started listening. The concepts of awareness, presence & meditative breath slowly worked their way into my practice. I’ve been studying ever since.
Why teach?
I’m a teacher. I have been involved in various forms of education throughout my life. I started as a teenager teaching kids to swim; I spent several years after university as a substitute public school teacher; I’ve supervised a children’s nursery program; I spent a decade teaching kids & adults to SCUBA dive; all of which have fueled my love of learning and teaching.
How I did it?
It was inevitable that I would eventually merge my love for both teaching & yoga. In 2011 I did just that by becoming RYT certified with Tribe Yoga in India. Upon returning to the States I have found myself at home teaching various ages, abilities & interpretations of yoga. I continue to study & develop myself as both a teacher & student.
My Goal as a teacher?
At the end of each class I teach I’m overwhelmed with the same feeling that brings me back, time after time, to my own yoga practice. It’s a sense of cool content & gratitude. I hope to leave my students feeling exactly the same way. Empowered & uplifted, content & centered, leaving in a more deeply connected state than when they entered.
I am grateful beyond these brief sentences for the opportunities I’ve been afforded. I hope to inspire fellow yogis like I’ve been inspired by so many gifted teachers along the way.
